I used to have the capability to turn on my VMB5000 alarm when motion was detected inside my house  by my arlo pro 2 cameras.  I no longer have this capability.  Why is this no longer operational?

The VMB5000 does not have a built-in siren. I'm not sure how you were ever able to get any kind of alarm. Check the bottom of your base to be sure we're talking about the right device.

I have a VMB5000 NA and I have turned the siren on this hub many times however, now it appears that the software has changed and it no longer has this capability.  Why was this function taken away?  If motion is detected inside my house I want to be able to turn on the siren on the hub.

Did you have a different model base station in the past? As mentioned, the VMB5000 does not have an integrated siren, see here: https://kb.arlo.com/000062284/Arlo-SmartHub-and-Base-Station-Compatibility

The VMB4000 does.  Are you certain you have the VMB5000 (which has no USB slot, and which has a microSD card slot underneath)?
