We bought the Arlo Pro 2 system, 4 cameras and base unit a couple years ago, maybe 3 years ago even. Since then, one camera bit the dust, and another one has gone AWOL. We just purchased a 4 camera system of the Arlo pro 4 that stated would work with my pro 2 base system. Mind you, I am what I refer to myself as a techno-retard, so all this is typically way way over my head and pay grade. I tried to do this thing where they showed me some black box that was all fuzzy and said to hold the new camera 6 inches away from the screen, and nothing happened, and of course one cannot get customer service on the line unless you are Bill gates, so that option is out Also the model number does not match any that they show here in this area. I have the VMC405OP Arlo Pro 4 and the old base is for the Pro 2 cameras. I am old and just not understanding this new age stuff and need to know if I need to return these cameras or not. Also, not even sure what it means to hook up to wifi. Again, total idiot on this stuff. Maybe the 6 year old down the street can understand it, but I sure do not. Also, I do not do the cell phone thing, mine is used as a (gasp) phone only, do not understand other aspects of those silly things.

What model base station do you have? Look at the bottom for a label that shows VMBxxxx.

I'm not sure what this "black box" is but I suspect it's for a QR code (perhaps not). Are you trying to connect to your base or to WiFi? The Pro 4 supports both methods so you would need to choose to connect to your base when you first start trying to set up a camera. If you don't get that option, your base may not be compatible with the new cameras. The VMB3xxx bases are not compatible while the VMB4xxx bases are.
