Activity zone

In this post I was advised to set up the area so every time motion is detected camera is recorded.

Solution but I have question how is this possible since my camera is not connected into AC. Does this mean that it detects whatever is in the view bases on sensitivtiy so the area I drew arround is irelevant?

I am the one who wrote that solution.

What I described has nothing to do with an activity zone.  What I described is a method to zoom the camera so a smaller area of the scene is visible.  This affects what is seen on the live view and what is recorded when motion is detected.  A zoomed camera records a smaller portion of the camera's field of view.

This setting has no effect on the motion detection.  If the camera is unplugged from wall power, any motion detected by the camera's IR sensor will trigger a recording, even if the motion is outside the zoomed field of view.

ok say originally my view is red. I click on zoom select area in blue and save.

Would only movement in blue be recorded and anything in red ignored?

If you zoom the camera to the blue area, you record the blue area.

Activity in the red area will still trigger a recording.  You won't see the motion in the recording though, because the camera is zoomed in.

This is because the camera detects motion using an IR sensor.  This IR sensor is approximately the same field of view as the unzoomed camera, but is an independent sensor. So, the zoom setting and the video image itself has no effect on the motion detection.  (Unless an activity zone is set.)

Could be lots of reasons for this.  Maybe the red area is something you don't want to see, like the sky or a hedgerow or something.  The red porton could also be an area where you would never detect any motion anyway, like the sky or a hedgerow or something.
