Okay this situation reveals that Arlo Support is run by amateurs. I received an EOL alert for my existing Arlo wire free system. Fine, I went on the Arlo website and chose a brand-new Bundle, listed as Arlo Pro 2, 2 Wire Free HD Security Camera. There were zero setup instructions in the box, so I called Support. The agent advised that Pro 2 is subject to EOL. I asked "How can this be so, when I purchased this system from Arlo's current range, less than a month ago?" The agent was unable to provide a sensible reply. Then the agent advised: "Set up the system, and you'll get a prompt that you must have a subscription!" Does anyone else recognise the stupidity of this response? First, no clear instructions for setup, second it has to be setup, to advise the need for a subscription. All of this with cameras which are apparently subject to EOL. BTW, there was no mention of a mandatory subscription in the sale offer for the bundle. I don't need Cloud storage, I be happy to record 24 hour activity to a USB stick, then record over it, but the agent professed to know nothing about recording to a USB stick. The agent promised a Supervisor would call me back, but could not provide a time frame. I think the only info I need now is how to return the Bundle for a full refund.

Although you would be able to have backup storage recordings for triggered camera events you will not be able to make manual recordings or screenshot as these are only available to the arlo cloud storage.

 

The Base does not support in app access to the backup storage you need a newer model base to allow you to download the recordings to your mobile and not able to share the library to friends.

 

This is the first I have seen references to needing subscription to use the pro2 cameras for the legacy cloud storage if this is the case.

 

If so I guess the arlo EOL for legacy free 7days cloud storage has already begun.

Can you confirm that these are actually Pro 2 cameras?  (Open the housing and remove the battery - there is a label inside).
