New Arlo Mobile App and Arlo Smart Features

With the release of Arlo Mobile App 3.0 in February, the foundation for bringing several new features and enhancements to the Arlo Mobile app was made possible. Since the release of 3.0, additional updates have been made to add even more features and long standing requests from the Arlo community.

We invite you to join the Arlo Product Management and Community teams for an opportunity to ask questions about these new features and enhancements to the Arlo Mobile App. The team will be available to start answering your questions at 10 AM PT and will continue to answer questions throughout the day. This event will end and additional questions cannot be asked after 11:00 AM PT.

Are you going to open an API so users can download their footage to dropbox for backups?

It would be great to have API access so users can automatically download/backup their security footage for long term. It would also be nice so if we wanted to do our own analysis on our security footage we could. It's... wonderful already that we can hook into Arlo from Apple HomeKit to do things like trigger scenes when motion is detected. But I would love a trigger that can send a video file somewhere based on a certain trigger so I can run it through something like OpenCV or Yolo for more processing. Read more

Camera offline notification

When can we get a notification added to the app that lets us know when a camera is offline?

While I do not have information on this topic currently, the development team is paying close attention to this type of request for future enhancements.

Can we get the ability to pin specific shortcuts to the front of the app?

Any time we are working the yard or even washing a car, the app is constantly sending notifications to our phone.  To mute notifications, we have to launch the app, login, tap past the PayPal ad (very annoying to have ads... in this app!), tap the 3 dots, tap settings, tap Mute Notifications, then tap the duration.  Having the ability to mute from the front of the app would be very welcome. Arlo wired doorbell-- subscription reqired for video?

Why do I need an Arlo Smart subscription to get alerts from my  Arlo video doorbell?  I get motion alerts but no video recording. My Pro 2 systems doesn't require it. 

Arlo Pro 2 is a legacy camera that includes 7-day cloud recording. For recordings to be made to the Arlo cloud with Arlo Video Doorbell, you need an Arlo Smart subscription. Will you make it possible to remove a camera from the armed mode

Today you are unable to remove a camera from the armed mode, is this a feature that will be added in the future

It is not possible to remove a camera from the default "Armed" mode. You can however set up a custom mode to include only cameras you wish to have active. Why do Ultra cams sometimes work even with good WiFi?

When WiFi is good, cam op is unreliable. Upload speed is more than adequate .

If you're experiencing unreliable connectivity, there could be an issue with interference or signal strength, even if the signal strength icon shows strong. You may need to relocate and/or elevate your SmartHub to improve... the signal quality between it and the camera. Read more

Why are you charging a subscription for recording videos when your older camera systems didn’t?

I had an older version of the Arlo cameras that recorded videos and didn’t charge me. It broke after using it for less than a year. I bought a new camera system and now I have to pay for recoding. I don’t need 1080p or any... of the extra features, just to record events. It seems like you are adding features some of don’t need and charging us to use those features we don’t need. Live view

I have 11 mbps upload and good WiFi. Why does live view on Ultra cam either take a long time to start or won’t work at all?

Many of the new features in the Arlo 3.0-3.2 mobile apps are geared toward helping you quickly identify through notifications whether or not an alert needs attention. Notification Deep-Link and Animated device Preview are... a couple of features designed to help with this. My Arlo does not works in the Arizona summer heat of 120 plus degrees what can I do?

I have 5 Arlo Pro 2 with one base station in the Arizona desert, I the winter time is all good but summer time when is sometimes above 120 degrees and the cameras are outside in direct sunlight, the arlo goes off line and... then stops communicating with the Internet, I have a Verizon Jetpack (wifi) connected to a router by wifi then the router connect to the Arlo base station by ethernet cable. so when is too hot in the summer and it goes off line I need to disconnect the power cable from Arlo base station and then plug the power cable again to reboot and the Arlo base station reconnect to Internet automatically the problem is I need to drive 60 miles to do this reboot, we use the Arlo for our security system in a storage yard Below is one of the cameras infoArlo Pro 2Firmware: 1.125.16.0_36_49c31ddHardware: H5Serial #: A0B19270A09CC thank you Read more

Arlo Pro 2 cameras have a maximum temperature threshold 104°F. Why can't I setup multiple schedule alarms per individual camera?

When someone comes to my front door, I want to be able to speak to them

through my Arlo camera/speaker.  However, the time it takes to connect to the camera takes too long (and I have a very fast mesh WiFi network with Hub with excellent signal strength where the cameras are located).  By the... time I'm able to connect, the person at the front door is left waiting and wondering what is going on.  How can you speed up the time required to connect to a live stream which is required in order to speak with someone? Will you develop door sensors?

I remember seeing something about possible door sensors? I love the cameras and would love to pair them with more sensors to move into a whole house security option. Is that not in the works anymore?

When will we be able to change the notification sound?

I have an Arlo Pro 2 setup. When I am asleep at night, the current notification does not wake me up or alert me. When will be able to customize the alert? Is there a current work around that you propose? I use IFTTT for... the front door and that works fine. However, if I use the same work around for other cameras like the one above my garage, I'll be receiving calls throughout the night. I unfortunately cannot use my smart detection in conjunction with IFTTT to filter those calls. I've seen many similar requests from other users. Thanks in advance for your help. Read more

When will the ability to mute notifications for shared devices be added?

This seems like it should have been added quite sometime ago for people with multiple homes/systems.

Notification delay

Why is there a few second delay between when a camera detects something then sends me a notification? It used to be in live time.

The delay you're experiencing is due to Arlo Smart analytics. When motion is detected, the camera will communicate with the Arlo cloud to determine what caused the motion and send you a categorized notification based... on your Arlo Smart settings. In most cases, this delay is very minimal but is necessary to allow the cloud to analyze the trigger and make the appropriate classification. Read more

On a Samsung Galaxy 7 android phone it tells me the Arlo App is installed but there is no icon and the app is no accessible.  I uninstalled it and tried to install again.  It says the app is installed but it will not open. ... Any solutions? Read more

Why do my cam we ras go offline constantly

Cameras

Without having more information, this could be due to a number of different environmental factors.   Make sure your cameras have full signal strength, often times offline issues can be due to poor signal strength or WiFi... interference. You may need to adjust the location of the Arlo SmartHub or the cameras to meet the necessary signal strength to maintain a consistent strong connection. Read more

Why doesn't alexa mobile have arlo live view anymore?

With Alexa and the Arlo Alexa Skill, you can now access your Arlo cameras using voice commands. Using the Arlo Alexa Skill, you can ask Alexa to show the live feed from one of your cameras on your Echo Show, Echo Spot, or... Geofencing on Android

Why can't old mobile devices be removed from the Enable Mobile Drives and Push Notifications screen in Geofencing?      This list is starting to fill with older devices I no longer have and becoming quite annoying. Speaking... of new devices. When a new device is added, most often because it has been replaced, geofencing doesn't start working for several days or not at all. The device will get stuck In Zone or Out of Zone despite the app being setup correctly on that device. This happens pretty much every time. Read more

This feature is now available on the 3.2 version of the Arlo mobile app. This version should be available for all users in the app store for both iOS and Android by 4/16/2021.   When using custom modes, new devices will... not be automatically added to your Geofencing settings. When adding new devices, check your Geofencing settings to make sure the new device is part of the modes that are defined there.  Read more

Can I connect an essential camera to a wifi network that needs a user name and network password?

I have a local wifi network that uses WPA2-Enterprise type security, which requires a network account to connect. What is happening to my alerts? No longer getting video clips. Just still images.

I'm currently on my free trial of Arlo Smart. The first two months were great. However, for the past month, when I get alerts the video clip says that it is hundred's of hours in length (clearly an error) and when... I select it all I see is a still image that says it's 0 seconds. I'm hoping this bug is being addressed? I'm considering signing up for the Arlo Smart subscription but this is making think otherwise. Can someone help?! Read more
