Apple HomeKit Secure Video

Apple announced a new service called Homekit Secure Video...they announced three companies that will start implementing it but unfortunately arlo was not amongst them...I hope arlo announces and enables this service in addition to the promised by not yet seen Homekit integration.

@Troydavid , @illuminous , @CrutchTheClutch  I also returned my 3 pack of Ultras and solar panels and went with Eufy.  I was able to afford a three pack of Eufy 2Cs, an add-on 2C, and a Netatmo Presence for the cost of the Ultras, and I have absolutely no regrets.  The batteries last substantially longer (in the Eufys, obviously the Netatmo is hardwired), there's HKSV (Netatmo is in beta currently, but it's already in the Eufys), and the range between the cameras and HomeBase is easily 4 times as long as the Arlos.  I had to buy a second Base Station for the Ultras just to cover the house, and I had one camera that was literally three metres from the Base Station that constantly dropped out due to low signal.

@DaveM8686 I’m sorry you don’t believe me but Arlo is a public company and you’re welcome to look up their results yourself. 

Arlo has grown services revenue by 89% YoY as of Q4 and is seeing a 50% conversion rate on Smart subscriptions from trial subs with up to 65% converting post trial. 

Analysts have estimated hardware margins to be between 11 and 15% while Smart subscriptions are around 50% margin. Not my math, I’m just repeating what I’ve read.

I just switched to eufy and Logitech doorbell with hsv, better system all around. Arlo used to be great but now they are getting left behind. You can’t corner a market if your competitors are making cheaper products and having more options. The only thing I miss is 180 degree view, I can live with 140. The speed of response and other integration with my house is so much more useful for me. Now I have my doorbell ring on all my hompod I choose, the clips are available in the home app. I gave arlo too much of my money and time, they could of listened to their customers and added support. Good bye and good luck to those holding their breath for hsv.

about time Arlo leveled with us and clarified that they only offer a limited homekit compatibilty, none of their current products allow homekit secure video storage to Apple icloud

without secure video storage on iCloud you can only view live video stream on the homekit app

this major major limitation essentially renders using Arlo products with Homekit just nonsense and Arlo completely obfuscates this in claiming Homekit support in product advertising and promotion

Is HomeKit secure video a planned feature, or is this simply to great a risk to Arlo Smart?

Can someone confirm if we will ever see full HomeKit support?

never going to happen. Arlo have said this many times.

This used to annoy me until I realised how much better the competitor cameras are compared to Arlo. Sold all my Arlo cameras and have never looked back

Same thing here. sold my Arlo pros and moved to eufy  4 2C cams and 1 2C pro cam. life is great. instant notifications,  instant live feed, great video quality compared to 720 ( arlo pro)  vs 2C -1080p & 2C pro - 2K,  homekit integration is great. only downside is that Eufy homebase 2 hub only allows 4 cams at a time on  homekit  but Arlo supports 5.

I have only had the cameras for the past 8 months. I am happy with everything else, camera's work perfectly fine no coverage issues and I have more than 5 cameras. 

I would be reluctant to rip them down and try to sell them just for a HomeKit feature. 

I don't really have an issue with Arlo's software - its just HomeKit secure video would be nice to have.

It sucks if that is true, maybe in a few years they will change their tune I won't hold my breath but stranger things have happened. 

I haven't owned the camera's for long enough to sell them, outside of this - I'm happy with everything else.

It’s not just about homekit. Eufy has better hardware and software. I spent 5 years with various Arlo cameras and best thing was getting Eufy
