Hello,
I need help with my Arlo Go 2 LTE (model VML2030).
The camera previously worked without any issues and recorded locally to the microSD card. After I canceled my Arlo Secure subscription, I changed the SIM card, reset the camera using the reset button, and added it to my Arlo account again.
Since then, the camera no longer recognizes any microSD card.
I have performed the following troubleshooting:
- Factory reset the camera several times.
- Tested several different microSD cards (at least two, possibly three).
- Fully formatted the cards on a computer before inserting them again.
- Tried inserting the card both while the camera was powered off and while it was powered on.
- The camera otherwise works normally with the live view using a Telia SIM card.
Under Storage Settings, only the message "Insert microSD card" is displayed, and the camera does not appear to detect that any card is installed.
My questions are:
- Is this a known issue after a factory reset or reinstallation of the Arlo Go 2, or does it indicate that the SD card reader has become defective?
- Is there any way to reinstall the firmware or reset the SD card reader in some way?
Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Anette

Thanks for the detailed troubleshooting. The likely symptom is only with the microSD card format, not a faulty reader.
The Arlo Go 2 only supports microSD cards formatted as FAT32 it does not support exFAT Cards 128GB and larger default to exFAT, so when you reformatted them on your computer they were likely set to exFAT, which is why the camera shows "Insert microSD card."
You can try to reformat the card to FAT32:
- Windows: cards up to 32GB format to FAT32 directly; for larger cards use a free tool like "FAT32 Format" (guiformat) or Rufus.
- Mac: Disk Utility → Erase → MS-DOS (FAT) for 32GB or smaller.
Then insert the card into the powered-off camera and turn it back on, it should be detected under Storage Settings.
Tip: A 32GB (or smaller) card is easiest, since it formats to FAT32 without extra tools.
Please give that a try and let me know how it goes.
