Hi I have recently bought 4 Arlo Go 2 cameras and for the life of me I can’t get them to connect to a fully functioning 2.4ghz wifi system.
Here are the details and what I have done.
I have a Nighthawk Netgear dongle wifi system that supports 5g, 2.4ghz and dual.
I have connected my mobile phone to the 2.4ghz network with the SSD saying the wifi name plus the 2.4ghz at the end.
i have disabled the “join automatically” function on my iPhone so that it doesn’t automatically jump to 5g depending on signal strength.
I then follow the prompts and no matter what I do, after I scan the QR code and keep pressing the sync button to keep it flashing blue it keeps on saying “no cameras found”
can somebody please tell me what I’m doing wrong because I’m about to yeet these things to the nearest main job and enjoy them being crushed.

Is the camera chiming after you scan the QR code?

Yes the camera chimes after scanning the QR code but after a few seconds it begins rapidly flashing orange and then no lights at all. I read that you have to keep pressing the sync button to make sure it flashes blue.
the batteries are fully charged so I’m not sure why it flashes orange.

The blinking amber means it has not connected to the wireless network. I suggest checking the attached device list in your router, and see if it is listed there after the chime.
The WiFi network needs to be set to WPA2 (AES) security. Some older firmware can't handle punctuation (including spaces) and accented characters in the network name and password.
Do you have a VPN installed on the phone? If you do, then turn it off during the install.

How do I connect the wifi to WPA2? Also no VPN on my phone.
the wifi name has _ symbols so maybe it’s not liking that?

Ok so I should be able to de-activate or activate WPA2 in the router settings and that should sort the problem?
as stated the phone is connecting to the dongle fine and it’s 2.4ghz so unsure why it’s not working

So I have tried going through every setting on my Nighthawk Netgear dongle router and there is no option for WPA2, it doesn’t even mention that anywhere in any of the settings.
i have tried to connect again with no luck at all. It still flashes orange and no cameras found.

What model is the router?
If this is an M6, then you should see an encryption type field on the page where you set the network name and password.

It is a Nighthawk AX3600 model MR6110 M6 mobile router.

There is no option for encryption I’m pretty sure. You just have the wifi name and password which you can change.

Is the camera showing up on the router's attached device list after the chime?
Also did you mean just WPA2? You shouldn't enable older versions of WPA.

Hi, I’m having the same problem. I’m trying to set this camera up at work and it’s just not connecting. Security on the wifi (it’s actually an extender) is WPA2-PSK(AES) so I know that’s not the issue, it’s also on 2.4GHz. After I hear the chime, the blue light stops blinking and I also have to press the sync button for it to come back on. I’ve tried restarting my extender and also taken the battery out camera multiple times.
I should also add that after the chime, it does appear on the devices list for my extender. But the app can’t find the camera.

This is the key point. Your camera is joining the network correctly, so it is ok that the LED stops blinking. No need to keep pressing sync over and over.
Not sure this is the same problem, as we haven't figured out if @Tmerch05's camera is joining the wifi network or not.
In any event, your issue is discovery (the app isn't able to find the camera).
- Is your phone connected to the same wifi extender as the camera?
- Is this your extender, or is it managed by your company? Many company wifi networks are set up to isolate clients from each other. If yours is set up to do that, when discovery will fail.

Yeap, I’m connected to the same extender.
The extender is mine, which is connected to the companies wifi with their permission. This isn’t a huge company at all or anything so I don’t think they’re super secure with their wifi, in fact I know they’re not.

Check to see if there is a network isolation setting for the extender wifi network. Note some extenders might have this set by default (particularly for guest or iot networks).
Alternatively connect your PC to the same wifi. Then try pinging the camera from the PC after the camera chimes. (You'll need to find the camera's IP address to do it this way).

Success!!!! So I connected my phone to the dongle wifi at 2.4ghz then turned on the cameras and followed the prompts. After the camera chimed I checked the connected devices on the dongle and it said that the camera was connected. A few moments later the app picked up my Arlo cameras…super relief.
just another question, with the camera on and constantly providing a live feed, what is the battery life? As it will be armed constantly.

Armed doesn't consume much battery life - with a good WiFi connection the battery should last a couple to a few months. Recording and live viewing, however, will drain the battery so make sure you can limit those activities to the spec of <5 minutes per day on average.

The camera isn't constantly providing a live feed. When it is armed, motion is detected using a passive infrared sensor (PIR), not the video.
Battery life depends on
- the amount of streaming per day,
- the balance between day/night streaming (night uses more power).
- the quality of the network connection (frequent disconnects use more power)
So hard to predict.
You can get an outdoor charger for the Go2, or alternatively a solar panel.
