  • I have discovered a fatal flaw with Arlo cameras. The fundamental rationale for having a security camera is to be able to see "what is going on" at a location that you are not at. If your camera goes offline, however, there is no way to remotely, ie. using the app, to troubleshoot or to fix the problem. You must be on-site or you need to go to where the camera is located. More often than not, you won't be able to do so or may not be able to do so for an extended period of time. Meanwhile, your camera is not operational. That defeats the whole purpose of having the camera in the first place. I had considered buying a second camera, but now that I've found this out, I realize that it would be a waste of money.

Can you think of any other vendor that has similar cameras that you can troubleshoot when offline for any reason?

Offline means exactly that - the camera isn't responding to any attempts to reach it. So if that that happens, you do need to be there.

@GuyLeGuy - do you know why your camera went offline in the first place?
