Since installing the new app for my Essentials Spotlight cameras (Model: VMC2030AerH8 x3) the whole systems has completely turned to custard. Now, with the new app (Ver. 4.16.1_28692) you have features (LOL ....ahahhahahhahhahahha) like "Arm Away" and "Arm Home" and "Standby"... which do absolutely nothing! The Geofencing is broken... AGAIN! There is no turning off the cameras, they are armed now whether you are home or away or you try to manually disable them using the only method available to you now which is "standby" mode.
The appalling state of the app and the system over all now, leads me to only conclude that the people who are doing the development have zero clue what they are doing. It's either that or it's only me this is happening to and its a compatibility with my Samsung Galaxy S21... which I HIGHLY Doubt.

While Samsung phones have had issues, read these FAQs to get you started. While your complaints aren't new, many issues are due to lack of understanding how the new UI needs to work.

Turning cameras off is definitely different but possible without using Standby. Most cameras have an On/Off toggle in their settings but you can also edit your current mode and rule for the camera and just disable motion detection. There's no global Disarm/Arm as before.
As for geofencing, it works as long as you just change modes - you can't (currently) use a schedule as an action in GF. That's a known issue that hopefully gets fixed.
I've been on the new UI for a year (+/-) and it took time to figure out how to make things work as I needed. I wasn't able to totally get what I had in the old UI but it works for me.

Reply with what you like, try to make out like I don't understand how to use this crap, go ahead insult my intelligence. The new app is complete rubbish. That's all there is to it. They have no concept of design nor functionality. Whatever developers they have working on this stuff are just simple folk that have no business doing this stuff. It matters not to me... I had enough of their uselessness. Cameras have been taken down to be resold (hopefully someone will buy them) and a new system purchased to go into it's place. My time is not worth this rubbish!

After 2.5 years of a good app the Arlo new app is joke and I wish I have never upgraded. This app is complete waste of my time trying to work out the crap they have installed, it was so easy to use before. I guess some techo gen X thinks they had improved the app but they must have been born a few sandwiches short in the picnic box and have ruined the app. I guarantee Arlo will lose longtime customers thanks to this genius. After reading the negative reports on Arlo customer service I am not even going to bother dealing with Arlo and are looking into selling the units and going with competitor. We should all vote with our feet!!

Well Mr Superuser you kinda prove the point in your comments that the app is crap by your last statement below. You might have endless hours of faffing with technology but most people dont have endless hours to waste Arlos new app. Plenty of options out there to pick a better product.

I have to agree the old app was bad but the new one is absolute CRAP!!
Are we able to go back to the old app?
I am paying a subscription for 2 cameras which dont work

Hi I pushed them to roll me back to the old app, first customers service said that it could not be done – I said that I do not believe that and they could not do it. I insisted on speaking to their boss or a supervisor. First there was no-one is available’ fob off’, I continued to push, and they said someone will call me back.I told customer service to pass on my details and to tell their supervisor I was going to stop paying Arlo and leave Arlo completely for their competitors. I got a call me back in 48hours and rolled me back to old app. All I had to do was delete the current one and the reload the app again and it was the old version.

Could not agree more. I kept away from this pathetic new app. for months after noting multiple bad reviews. Unfortunately for me, my partner upgraded? and now I am stuck with it. May even ditch arlo for a better brand. Cheers, David .

Totally agree, its more expensive and dosent work. I invested mutch in my system now its worthless.
