Hi, I need a little help.

I have 4 Essential Spotlight Cameras and Pro SmartHub. I have one camera that has an 8 point activity zone, the other three cameras only allow me to make square/rectangular activity zones. Given the camera locations & the angle for the street, having a rhombus shaped activity zone on all 4 cameras is greatly desired.

What am I missing? Why can I only have one camera with an 8 point activity zone and the other three a multiple squares?

Herkimiah,

What is the camera serial number associated with the camera that does not allow for 8 point activity zones?

It's three cameras actually.

All three are model - VMC2030AerH9

All three have firmware 1.090.31.0_21_55537e7

Hi,

I've had the exact same issue on the same model camera but this issue happened to me with all camera's.  I had multipoint zones setup on all cameras to make a curve to match my street and back yard soo it detects within my fence only (as I live on a corner), took my camera down to charge and after installing it back up it wasn't 100% in the same position so I entered the activity zone to adjust and it reset my multipoint zone to square / rectangle shape ONLY where I cannot customize the shape of it.

Now I either record every single car that drives past or miss half my front yard, I've had to create 6-8 separate activity zones just to try cover majority of my front yard and still have areas not properly covered.

Yeah, it's extremely frustrating. I'm getting unwanted traffic too. On top of that I just discovered the camera that has the multipoint zone only will give me night vision in black and white while the other 3 have color & black and white.  Very disappointed in the lack of response from Arlo.

The development team is looking into this behavior. Not all Arlo cameras have access to 8-point activity zones due to hardware limitations. Arlo Essential cameras use 4-point activity zones by design. I will provide an update as soon as we have more information available to share.

Thank you,

I bought the cameras expressly for the multipoint zones! How do I go about getting you to exchange the three that do not have that capability for three that do?

Have there been any answers or resolution for this? I have the essential XL spotlight cameras. I started changing the network on my cameras and now can only use 4 point activity zones. My exact same cameras (same model and firmware) that I didn't disconnect still have the 8 point activity zone retained.

Not sure what you are looking for.  Some of the cameras have multipoint zones, others only have rectangles. Not sure why that is, but it might be because the camera hardware doesn't handled multipoint zones when the camera is on AC power.

Arlo apparently had some bugs where they mistakenly enabled multipoint zones on cameras that don't support the feature.  I guess it's possible that is still showing up in some cases - if so, restarting the camera or base, or re-adding it to the account would result in giving you just the rectangular zones.

You also were asking about low-light color.  That is also something that isn't available for all cameras.  If you could provide the camera model for the camera that doesn't show the option, it would be helpful.    You can find the model by going into the support area of the app, selecting the camera, and then scrolling down to the product id field.  Note that "H" revision code shown in the device info is NOT the camera model.
