How do I get the Arlo cameras, to begin recording to USB installed in WBM2000 hub.

Cameras are in place, USB device is recognized by Hub.. Camera screens remain blank/black, nothing is recording or being seen by cameras... Most importantly how does a Arlo user, ever speak to a human technician.. Cleverly Arlo supports hides it's customer telphone. numbers-Ridiculous !!

There is no such thing as a WBM2000.  Please double-check the VMBxxxx label and post the correct info.

Note that only the two smarthubs (VMB4540 and VMB5000) support the direct access to local storage feature.

The VMB4000 and VMB4500 support local recording, but you need to eject the USB drive and connect it to a PC to see the recordings.

The VMB3xxx hubs don't support local recording at all (likely you don't have one of those models, since you are saying the hub recognizes the drive).

Hub recognizes inserted USB.. How do I get my 6 cameras to begin working, and storing videos..

On my Arlo App, cameras are stated inactive, paid subscription required ?? How do my cameras make the change-over to Local Storage-Thanks for the feedback-Dan

Have you formatted the drive using the app?

The only way to see local recordings with the VMB4000 is to eject the storage from the hub and then connect it to a PC.  Then open up the USB storage and look for the recordings. So do that, and see if the recording is working properly.

Direct Access to local recordings from the app requires a VMB4540 or VMB5000 smarthub.  There are limitations:

  • recordings only available from the app (not my.arlo.com)
  • recordings only available in the primary account (not "friend" accounts)
  • no ability to take snapshots or make manual recordings
  • no thumbnails - all recordings need to be downloaded to the phone/tablet to view
  • remote access requires router setting changes that many find difficult (and which won't work with some internet service providers).

So not a great experience.
