I I turn off the camera led in settings, will that conserve battery life? How will it affect the camera operation?

The Camera LED setting simply allows you to not turn the blue LED on when fully charged. It has no other function. You might want to do this for a camera that's constantly powered externally so subjects aren't alerted by the LED. Thus, it will have no effect on battery life.
