Do we have to pay to keep the Arlo system working

After calling the support phone number I was told I have to buy a service contract for updates in order to keep my cameras working.  Is this correct

You reached a scam support site - likely a result of googling for a support phone number.  https://kb.arlo.com/000062119/How-can-I-avoid-Arlo-support-scams

 

Arlo does not charge for firmware updates.

 

You need to use the support options in the app to contact support (unfortunately you need subscription to call them).
