No. It can be triggered to record by motion, or by sound. Or you can make a manual recording.
Do you have a subscription for the camera? Cloud recording requires an Arlo Secure Subscription.

Assuming the camera is in either a trial subscription or a paid subscription:
Try live-streaming the camera, and see if you can make a manual recording. There should be a recording icon when you touch the camera in the app (it looks like a target).
Also, check that the camera is armed.
