I got Arlo pro last week and then a trickle charge solar charger
It’s been overcast all week- the camera I used it on went flat ? Why it was new and on trickle

Can you confirm the camera model? Your title says "Essential", your text says "Pro".  There are several pro models (pro, pro 2, pro 3, pro 3 floodlight, pro 4), and if you have a pro, it would be good to know which one.

  • Did the app (or web ui) say it was charging during the day?
  • How much video recording (per day) is the camera doing?
  • Are you seeing any connection issues with the camera?

Also, are you using an Arlo solar panel, or a third party panel?

There has to be enough power from the panel to compensate for the amount of battery draw due to the usage of the camera. The usual issue for fast battery depletion is the total amount of recordings and live viewing per day, on average. If that total is >5 minutes the spec battery life won't be met. In addition, the overcast days won't allow the panel to output full current which can easily cause the battery to deplete.

My suspicion is that you're recording too much.
