I have an Arlo essential XL and the provided mount isnt designed to hold the weight. i have tightened the thing to the point where it breaks and it still has an issue holding position. Anyone else have this issue? Im think I will have to buy the magnetic mount vs the standard hand tighten one thats provided. Seems like a design issue since this is happening on multiple cameras in my home.

I don't think that will work. While I don't have the Essential XL, other XL models don't have the needed magnet in the back of the camera. That's because the XL battery is too heavy to be supported that way.
I haven't had your issue with my own screw-on mounts.
