If I buy a base station, do i still need to buy the monthly subscriptions?

Use of a base station would allow you to use local recordings if you're trying to avoid a subscription. However, you'd have to eject the drive to view the videos on a computer. The SmartHubs, VMB4540 and VMB5000, allow the app to directly view the videos.

 

Or, if the idea is just whether a base or hub will require a sub, that isn't the case. Subs are required for cameras, not bases or hubs.
