Other than pulling the SD card is there any way to view stored motion capture files/videos on a connected USB device. such as attaching an external USB SSD drive, or accessing it thru a local network or the router?

The VMB4000 doesn't have a microSD card, it only supports USB-connected external storage.  The only model with a microSD card is the VMB5000.  Can you confirm that you have the VMB4000?  (There is a VMBxxxx label on the base).

The only way to view the local storage with this smarthub is to eject the storage and connect it to a PC.  A VMB4540 or VMB5000 supports direct access to local storage in the app (with several restrictions).

The microsd card is in a usb card reader in 1 of the 2 usb ports.  I could easily add an external ssd enclosure with a old spare ssd drive to the other port if need be.

I got the model # from device info.  I also have a WMB5000 but it is used at another distant location and is not available for swap out

OK, so USB storage as far as the base is concerned.

As I said above, there is no way to access the storage other than ejecting it from the base (using the app), and then connecting it to a PC.
