One of my Arlo Essential Spotlight cameras has become faulty, so I’m looking to replace it with a current model.

What would be the closest successor in the Arlo lineup today? Ideally, I’m looking for:

  • A built-in spotlight (for color night vision)
  • Compatibility with Arlo SmartHub VMB4540

I’ve seen newer “Essential” generations, but compatibility with the SmartHub seems a bit unclear depending on the model.

Any recommendations or confirmation from someone who has upgraded would be appreciated.

The compatibility list is here:

All the battery powered essential models are compatible.  The pan tilt models aren't compatible, along with some of the indoor essentials.

Thank you for the information.

I am still a bit confused, are the two names below refer to the same product? Thank you in advance.

  • Arlo Essential 3 2K XL Video Security Camera Outdoor Wireless, XL Battery Operated Home Camera With Colour Night Vision, Light, Siren, 2 Way Audio & WiFi, Secure Free Trial, 2 Cameras, White
  • Arlo Essential XL Security Camera 2K/HD (3rd Gen)

They likely do.

The camera model is VMC3082.  If you are looking at a multiple camera bundle, the second digit usually is replaced with the number of cameras in the bundle - so VMC3282 for a two camera bundle, VMC3382 for three cameras.
