I have 2 essential indoor cameras that keep go offline within 24 hrs they are  permanently plugged in and one is next to router. I have 13 cameras of various arlo models and these are the only ones I have issue with. I have to unplug and plug them back in every time I need them to work.

Anybody experiencing cameras dropping off line and require power reset? This is happening multiple times a day across multiple cameras. Also, the geofencing settings on the app are suddenly not responding! Am I the only one experiencing this?

I have reached out to our development team to look into this further. I will update you as soon as possible.

I have 4 cameras, one I bought a year ago and 3 I bought 4 months ago. In the last month one to all 4 go offline. No lights on the front and the app saying they are offline. If I unplug and replug them back in they sometimes work, but after a few hours back off again.

1. I have reset my wifi several times now, none of my other devices have had issues with wifi

2. reset all cameras, seems to fix it for a few hours

3. Moved the cameras to locations

I have tired soooo many times now to get support, I have been told on 3 occasions now someone will get back to me.... Still waiting. I have filed complaints with Australian Consumer Affairs, TrustE, JB Hi-Fi and Officworks (the two place I bought the cameras). If anyone has a way to fix it would be great, if you are thinking of getting Arlo cameras DO NOT! Support staff treat you like a nuisance and don't help.

Is this always happening to all camera at the same time?

Do you use a smarthub?  Or are the cameras all directly connected to your home wifi?

Update. Have been connect to the hub for 2 days now and have not gone offline so not sure why there is an issue using the wifi option. As I said I have mix of cameras connected to the hub and directly to the wifi and the only camera with issues with the wifi were the indoor essential gen 2.

Yep, having the exact same issue. I have 3 Arlo Essential indoor cameras and use wifi to connect. They have worked seamlessly for over 12 months, now two of them drop out as you have described. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting, swapping power sockets all to no avail. Do you know if there has been a firmware update? I am in Australia.

My firmware was upto date I have connected to my hub instead they haven't gone offline in 2 days not sure why they were going offline in wifi mode. Firmware is 10.0.2509_400417

10 cameras connected to hub including the 3 essential indoor now, 3 are connected through wifi they work fine. No issues with essentials since connecting to hub.

This just started the past month and bought cameras a year+ ago. No issues with battery charge and utilizing solar panels. They have been on them for months without any issues. I have been thinking of switching services for a while due to the inconvenience of always checking, manually recharging to see if that helps and sometimes they randomly start working after motion is detected hours later.

I have the exact same issue! In fact, I reported it to Arlo Support and they sent me a replacement camera free of charge - the replacement camera is doing the exact same thing. So it must be a firmware issue?

I just reopened my case with them and it’s like getting blood out of a stone. The replacement camera they sent has the exact same issue - so it’s not hardware. And it’s nothing to do with my wifi or positioning as it has worked perfectly fine for 2+ years up until very recently. It must be a buggy firmware update. Hopefully we get a fix soon.

Hi Brooke - is there any update on this? It is becoming quite a problem and having the camera drop off constantly overnight is a security risk.

Exact same here. 2x indoor essential gen 2 cameras that have never had any issues. Then just recently both were offline. They will stay online for a short period (less than a day) after a power cycle, but then offline again eventually.

No issues with any of my other Arlo cameras.

I have an eero 6 router, is that helps anything.

Thanks for the update. My camera went offline this morning. I know it was online at 3:31am this morning as it caught motion, then according to the Device Info, the camewra checked for a firmware update at 3:46am - then it went offline and still is as I forgot to power cycle it this morning.

Could it be an issue when it checks for firmware?

Hi everyone,

I’m seeking insight from the community and hopefully escalation from a community manager regarding persistent "ghosting" affecting my Arlo Essential Indoor Cameras (VMC3060).

Both of my VMC3060 units began experiencing identical connectivity failures just a few weeks apart, immediately following the upgrade to firmware 10.0.2509_e400417. Prior to this, the cameras were stable on what I believe was v1.x firmware.

The Symptoms:
  • Cameras drop offline roughly every 24 hours.
  • The LED status often changes to solid amber (orange), indicating an internet connectivity error, before the camera disappears from the network entirely.
  • A hard power cycle temporarily restores the connection, but the cycle repeats.
Key Technical Context:
  • Isolation of Issue: This problem is exclusive to the indoor cameras. I have five other Arlo devices connected to the same network and all of them are working perfectly.
  • Sequential Failure: Both indoor units developed the exact same behavior sequentially after the same update, which strongly suggests a software/firmware bug rather than a simultaneous hardware failure.
Support Status:
I have an open support case (#90598500) where support has expressed an intention to replace at least one of these units. However, I’m concerned that a hardware replacement won't resolve the root cause if the new units pull the same problematic v10 firmware. Support is also really hard to talk to about the issue when I ask questions. They always assume I'm getting annoyed, when really I just want to talk through the problem. They seem hell bent on following their script.

Has anyone else noticed their VMC3060 units becoming unstable specifically after moving from v1.x to v10.x? Is there a known backend fix or a pending firmware patch?

Any advice would be great.

I have reached out to our team and let them know you are seeing this behavior as well. I will update the community as soon as possible.

Hey Brooke. Thanks for merging the threads. I didn't come across this one during my quick search. Should I keep my support case open? They seem intent on replacing the cameras, which if the experience of other posters in this thread is any indication, isn't likely to resolve the problem. If it helps, I know one of the other posters mentioned they use Eero, I use Ubiquiti.

@timo_h I do not believe a replacement would resolve what you are seeing due to others getting replacements to see the same behavior. We are currently investigating this behavior however and I will keep the community updated.
