My two dogs go out at the crack of dawn.  My system is in Arm Home when that happens.  There are two 2nd generation Essential cameras out the door where they go.  They both light up and record.  But three other cameras around the outside of my house do the same.  Why is that?

Do you have cross-triggering set up? That's where a rule for one camera triggers another to also record. You may want to post screenshots of your camera rules in Arm Home if you have questions.

My problem is alike. Arlo now set up cameras to take a snapshot now and then. Problem is that this happens too often, also including cameras that are not armed and even turned off. This drain the batteries fast. The other day I walked past a camera that was certainly off, and no camera was armed (standby) A blue light and a couple of red  IR lights greeted me. Arlo last responded 14 days ago. I wish I could have the firmware from 2023..

The devices you mentioned have rules set to record while in arm home mode. If you don't want those to record in that mode, you'll have to remove the rule.

@egilso Can you try reinstalling one of these cameras to see if the symptom is resolved?

The behaviour I see, comes when mode "standby" is used as well, and  also for cameras that are turned off. The behaviour also stays the same if the camera is reset and added anew.

How are you turning the device off?

Hi, I have 11 devices. The behaviour is uniform across the devices

@egilso Does this happen on every occurrence with the criteria you provided?

I cannot say for certain, but often, Yes. Right now f.ex ,I turned on a camera. Another camera placed indoor lit up, even if it is turned off. An armed camera activated as well

@iceguy I see you have cross-triggering enabled for when one camera detects motion, the others will record as well. If you can go into your rules and verify your Arm Home mode and remove the devices from the rules you don't want to record when that initial camera is triggered should resolve this.
