View someone else’s videos with permission

I already have an Arlo account. I bought my mother-in-law cameras and she sent me up so I can view her secure videos. Do I need to set up a separate account to see those?

No.  You can click on "Create Account" in her invite email, and then just log into your existing account.

 

However, if you see "Library" in your app, you will need to migrate to "Feed" in order to see her videos.  Let us know if you need instructions for that.

If you want to migrate an account to "Feed", then you go into "add device" and start to add a Pro 5s camera.  Note you DON'T need to own the camera.  The workflow can't be completed w/o the camera, but it will still migrate the account to "Feed" before you get stuck.

It won't allow me to add as I already have 5 cameras on my feed.  What do you suggest?

You should still be able to start to add a Pro 5s camera.  

 

Can you provide a screenshot of the error you are seeing?

This has nothing to do with having 5 cameras.  

 

Did you go into the app store, and make sure your app is up to date?

 

If it is, then press "continue" and see if that migrates your account to "Feed".

No.  But "Feed" is quite different.  One big limitation is that there are no custom modes - just three built-in ones.  They are fully customizable, but you cannot create new ones.  Scheduling and geofencing are also set up differently.

I looked any my current version is 4.12.5 (7366), March 20, 2024.  Any other suggestions why I can't see the other video's with permission?

We still need to know if you see "Library" in your app menu, or if you see "Feed" and "Dashboard" instead.  The app version is NOT relevant, as it can show either.

 

We also need to know this for your mother-in-law's account.

Then in order to see her cameras and recordings, you need to migrate to Feed.  I gave you the instructions above.

 

If you use custom modes then you should be aware that you will lose them when you migrate.  Geofencing and scheduling are also more difficult (and some haven't managed to get the combination of geofencing+scheduling to work for them).  Once you choose to migrate to Feed, you will be unable to shift back to Library.

 

I realize these caveats can make the decision to migrate to feed difficult.  But I don't work for Arlo, so there is nothing I can do about that.

Sorry to be such a pain and not understanding.  I went to migrate to feed and it states I need to upgrade my app.  My app is up to date so this is where I am confused.  I appreciate all your help!

@DawnDawn if you are not seeing the update you will want to add a Pro 5 even if you do not have one. This will kick in the update. And once the update is complete you will then be on the new user interface with the feed at the bottom instead of library.
