Firstly I believe they are essential version. Very old. I upgraded to the new app. Now I can hear on my phone the chime alert that the camera picked up motion however I cannot download the cameras to see anything. Tried unplugging base, holding down buttons to sync, I’m fully charged. Called arlo. Did the tech support. Any idea what’s the issue?

Do your cameras have a housing that opens (with a user-replaceable battery inside)?

Yes. But I have another household member who did not upgrade their app and their cameras record and can view from their phone no problem so it’s not a battery issue. Thanks same.

Never said it was a battery issue. I was trying to get you to tell us what cameras you have.
If your housing opens, you do NOT have an essential camera.
If you open the housing and remove the battery, you will see a label there. That will tell you (and us) what you own.
