I have a new Arlo security system and thinking about adding a camera.  There's really only one decent place to mount the camera that makes any sense.  Unfortunately, there's no power nearby.  I was thinking about a solar panel, but even with the best location I can place it, the direct sunlight during the day might only be an hour or so.  Other than that, we have a lot of shade so the sunlight would be filtered.  I'm in South Florida, so overall at lot of shade is a good thing but might work against me here.  Does anyone know how much direct sunlight on a daily basis would be needed to make this setup make sense?

It's really hard to say, as it depends on how much video the camera streams each day.

My suggestion is to get the Gen 2 XL model, which Arlo says has 4x the battery size of the normal Gen 2.  Then add a solar panel later on if you need to.

Also, my general advice is to put the cameras in a place where you can get to them.  Even with a panel, you likely will need to charge them from time to time.  And although the cameras are designed to be outdoors, it would be prudent to take them in if there is a hurricane coming your way.
