Is the camera charged?  When it switches to a low-power mode it will start taking snapshots.

Mine does the same thing if the battery gets below my preset limit, but it will not switch back to video once charged. This is very frustrating. I get tired of completely deactivating the camera and reactivating the whole setup process just to get it recording again.
