The ball joint is stiff, but it can be moved.

the wall mount doesn't seem to pivot - don't want to snap it off. HOW does this pivot to adjust the camera angle?

As mentioned, the mount does pivot, the initial adjustment is just very stiff.

There are two mounts, one for the solar panel and one for the camera. One is a low profile fixed position and will not tilt. The extended mount is the one needed to tilt and turn your camera. I bought extra mounts on Amazon.

What you calling the "extended mount" is the one that came with the solar panel.
The "low profile" mount came with the camera. But it is NOT fixed - just VERY stiff out-of-the-box. It will swivel.

At closer look, I see that it is a ball, but they are very difficult to adjust. I have several Arlo cameras and it is not worth the struggle. The mounts for the solar panels are the same type that came with my Gen 1 cameras. I just use those mounts and bought extra online. Arlo made a mistake with those mounts.

Agreed. But they will loosen up some as you move them.
