Verify the specific model of your new camera and be sure to choose the proper one when performing the setup (Essential Spotlight is different from just the Essential camera). What have you tried and what do you see? It may help to also reboot your router just in case.

What firmware is running on the base and camera?

I rebooted the bridge and this was a disaster
my USB drive connected now is saying it is "corrupt". It was working fine till the Arlo App got upgraded due to the new Essential 2k Cameras .
It didnt help in registering the camera with the smarthub.
Now I have to reformat the USB drive and lost all my recordings.
This is Arlo trying to ensure customer purchase their subscription v/s keeping recordings local to the Hub.
Also incompatibility of new camera with existing HUB is a way to keep customers from keeping local recordings as the hub provides a way to attach local storage . They have removed the USB port on the latest model of the smartHUB to ensure customers cannot store any recordings locally.

No. The VMB5000 has a microSD slot underneath for local storage.
Can you give more details on where you are seeing the "corrupt" mesage? If you connect the USB drive to a Windows PC, does it offer to "repair" the drive? If that is the issue, it is common - and just letting Windows "repair" it will result in your being able to access the files again.

I am able to mount the drive on windows 10 but ...
it has removed all the data in the folder - I see one empty folder 000000 and if I navigate inside it , it says corrupt data
the metadata folder is there and is accessable.
bottom-line I have lost all my videos after the app upgrade.
