I just purchased essential outdoor camera that includes 3 solar panel. In reading the Arlo Safety and usage compliance insert, it states “Do not get device wet” What the heck? Can your cameras / solar panel be installed on the facia of my roof where it will be rained and snowed on? Or is it limited to install location that is under cover where it receives limited sun and restricts its view?

To make them waterproof  (i.e. allow them to be dunked underwater) is a whole 'nuther ball of wax. The cameras and panels are weather resistant  meaning rain or most other forms of moisture won't affect them. "Do not get device wet" does seem to be totally misleading. My panels have been exposed to rain for years with few issues.

@JamesC , it would appear that this could be clarified better.

@Hip54: This info might be useful to you:

Page 41 of the manual says the Gen 2 Essential cameras are rated IP65.

The "6" means the cameras are dust-tight (and that is the highest rating).

The "5" relates to water, and indicates that it is protected from light pressure water jets and other liquids sprayed or splashed, from any angle.  It does not mean totally impervious to water, and it does not claim the camera can be immersed.
