does this camera (vmc2430-100NAR) require qny external connection. All I want is to watch the camera on my pc. I do not and will not subscribe to any external service.

Arlo's solutions all require an internet connection.

You don't need a subscription for the cameras if all you want to do is livestream the cameras.  Recordings would require a subscription.

There is a timeout of 20-30 minutes for livestreaming, after which you'd need to start the stream(s) again.
