I have a brand new Arlo Baby that's basically a paperweight at this point. Will have to drive 600km to return it.
On first setup everything appeared fine. The second time I opened the app it would not connect to the camera.
I deleted the camera from my account and did a factory reset. After this Arlo baby refused to read the QR code for a new setup. I waited a week and tried again, this time Arlo baby would Chime when reading the QR code but would not connect to the wifi network. I tried 3 different Wifi networks with a combination of pretty much every encryption method I could, as well as trying multiple wifi channels.
I've just tried another factory reset and now Arlo has gone back to refusing to read the QR code. Whose bloody idea was it to use a QR code anyway? Why can't I plug this in to a USB and load the settings? Or why can't the app connect directly to the camera using wifi and then provide SSID settings.
I've read the QR code using a third party app and it contains the following info:
WIFI
SSID: arlo
Encryption: nopass
Password: mypasswordgoeshere
Could this Encryption string saying nopass be causing the issue of not connecting to the wifi?
My baby arrived on Monday and now I won't have a monitor for weeks until I can drive to hand this thing back.

Krehsim,
It sounds like this issue will need more in-depth troubleshooting to resolve, I recommend that you contact the Arlo Support Team to further investigate this issue. You will find several options for contacting support in the provided link.

Krehsim,
Are you making sure to enter the SSID and Password information exactly as it appears (upper and lower case letters where necessary) when going through setup? How far away from your router are you when attempting to complete setup, have you tried moving closer to the router?

Attempting setup right next to the router.
Not that it matters at the moment with arlo refusing to read QR codes again.

Krehsim,
What device are you using to go through setup? If you're using mobile, are you able to try using a PC? Are the results the same?

Have tried both PC and phone.
Today Arlo will chime when reading QR code, but again will not connect to the wifi network.
My router generates QR codes for devices to connect to as well. When I scan that code it has the same info as the Arlo System QR code.
The only difference is the Encryption string reads : WPA
Do you have access to techs who can advise if the Ecnryption string should bet set to 'nopass' on a WPA2 network?

I've just loaded up a live USB of Kali and used Wireshark in monitor mode to take a look at the wifi traffic in my house.
I can't see any traffic from Arlo Baby's MAC address.
Makes me think it's not even trying to connect.

Gday James and anyone else who comes across this,
I have spoken to Mark from Arlo support and we've run through a series of troubleshooting steps.
We believe the unit has suffered some form of hardware failure. The unit will be replaced.
Whilst this has been extremely frustrating, both JamesC and Mark have been very helpful.
I will update if I run in to any issues with the new unit.
