Arlo Baby Touchscreen Monitor

I currently have the arlo pro system which is great it monitors our whole home, the only let down was not being able to monitor it through our smart tv but still best camera system we have had by far.

I am looking to purchase the arlo baby for my sister who is expecting her first baby, however as seen in previous comments because of lag I will also be looking to purchase the monitor when it comes out. the only thing Im concerned about is if it is able to connect via the touchscreen without any need for wifi how will it be able to connect? i can only presume bluetooth or nfc but as nothing is noted about those capabilities with arlo baby im concerned how reliable the connection will be to ensure constant real time monitoring?

Can't answer about touch pad, but can say while on the same wifi network the ABaby and an Android S7 the lag issue have been greatly diminished with the latest FW release
