Screw at bottom of Doorbell is stripped. Can't loosen to replace batteries.

The screw at the bottom of the doorbell is stripped and I can’t loosen it to replace batteries, help!

The only good way to remove a stripped screw is to drill the center with a small bit ( smaller than screw ) and use an easyout ( reverse twist extractor )

still struggling with the same issue, the battery is completely dead and the unit is useless at this point

Have you tried different screwdrivers with a #1 phillips bit? Maybe a set of jeweler's screwdrivers could be useful (use the larger sizes). A small straight slot screwdriver may be useful. Go slow to prevent tip slippage.
Too late now but one thing I do is to only snug the screw rather than trying to tighten it. Also, use of good quality screwdrivers helps since cheap ones (like the one supplied) have questionable tip shape.
