I'm seeing conflicting information online... I plan to wire the audio doorbell to an existing chime... Can this also provide power, or do I need to use batteries as well?

The doorbell itself uses the batteries to operate. To use the existing chime, power from the transformer is still used but doesn't power the doorbell.
