If I purchase a Smart hub system for my home, will there still be a monthly fee?

I like the Arlo system, but don't want to pay them every month for the rest of my life.

Cloud storage would require a subscription, but direct access to local storage wouldn't.

There are limitations to direct access to local storage:

recordings only available in the app (not the browser)
recordings only available in the primary account (not friend accounts)
no ability to store manual recordings or snapshots
no thumbnails - videos must be downloaded to the phone to view.
remote access requires router setting changes that some find difficult (and which don't work with some internet service providers).
