So... This is a little complicated. Need to put some cameras in grandma's home, so we were looking at adding 2 cameras. Our cousin 2 houses down has the hub and was going to do this. Does the hub need to be on the same network? Or is the hub being connected to the account sufficient?

Otherwise we'd need to upgrade our subscription to add the 2 cameras and share our account with her.

The hub creates a closed wifi network that the cameras connect to.  Likely your cousin's hub is too far away.  You can test this by trying to connect to your cousin's wifi while at the camera locations.  If you can connect, try running the free speedtest app on the phone (Ookla), and measure the wifi upload speed.  You'll need 1-3 mbps per second at least (depending on the camera model).

All the currently sold cameras require subscriptions.  Does your cousin have a multicamera subscription?  If they do, you could install the cameras from that account to grandma's wifi.  If you don't set up a separate location for grandma, the cousin's subscription would be applied.
