How can o stop my ring doorbell from picking up street traffic without cutting back the activity zone

Reduce the motion sensitivity  in your modes and rules. I happen to use 45 but you may find a different setting to be useful.

 

BTW, this is an Arlo forum, not Ring - big difference.
