AVD 1001W-100NSA Not 5g supported??

Had to destroy the original doorbell, installed the chime item, had to make a mounting plate to fit my siding, all installed and then the instructions say that it will work on 2.4g only!! You got to be kidding!!!
What do I do except take it back to the store??

Do you have a wifi router at the location, if so does the wifi router have 2.4ghz wifi capability?
The doorbell uses the local wifi or a Base station to connect, it does not use the mobile cellular network such as 5G.

Most 5 gHz routers also have a 2.4 ghz radio. Are you sure yours doesn't?

Did a lot of research before I made this purchase. Nowhere did it say it was only supported be 2.4 G until It was installed. Other similar doorbell brands say on the packaging only supported by 2.4 G!!

sounds like you have a 5G cellular data modem , the control of the wifi will be dependent on the brand and model.
If you are able to provide this we can assist further.
Some brands have switches on the outside, others require web interface to make changes.

FWIW, a lot of non-tech people wrongly assume that their 5 ghz wifi router only is single band. Almost all models enable both 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz wifi by default. But I have run into one model here that was 5 ghz only, so it is worth checking into.
If @Holkay gives the manufacturer+router, I can track down the data sheet (or better, the user manual) and look at the specs.

And, as an aside, the use of 2.4GHz allows for a stronger signal over larger distances at the expense of potential interference since that frequency tends to be overcrowded.
