Arlo Secure Update 5.0.1 New Features

My Arlo Secure app updated on 9/16/24 (to version 5.0.1).  The update description says that the new version “supports new Arlo Intelligence features”, and from reading what I can find online it sounds like it’s supposed to enable new person, vehicle, and custom identification technology, as well as completely changed the look of the interface, so long as you are on a Plus or higher plan, which I am.

However, despite the app’s notes saying otherwise, my app has not changed at all, other than the version number.  Still looks the same, and no new features to be found, just the previous AI person, vehicle, animal, and package detection.

With Arlo Secure app update 5.0.1 new features are now available for users with the new Arlo subscription plans and the latest user experience within the Arlo Secure app. These new plans will be announced and available for US users over the next couple of days and the details and features for these plans will be made available here: https://www.arlo.com/en-us/arlosecure.html

Once the plans are available, you can change your existing Arlo Secure Plus plan to the new Plus plan to gain access to these new features. For steps on how to do this take a look here: https://kb.arlo.com/1215141/How-do-I-change-or-cancel-my-Arlo-subscription-plan

Once you’ve changed your plan, you will also need to upgrade the user experience within your Arlo Secure app to gain access to the new features. To do this you can add a Pro 5 camera as if you were adding it brand new, the app will prompt you to upgrade to the latest experience and afterward you can back out of the onboarding flow for the Pro 5.
