Model: VMC4030

Firmware: 1.092.1.0_9_120d8b7

Hardware: H8

Base: VMB4000r3

Battery depleted very rapidly on device located both inside and out. Operating temperatures similar to prior years. Similar problem began several years ago and proved to be a software/firmware issue.

Have you recharged the batteries?

If so, are you still seeing a rapid discharge rate?

One inside camera dropped from 100% to 80% in two days.

The charge % is just an estimate based on measuring the battery voltage in the camera.  An aging battery might show that symptom.  I'd keep an eye on it, and see it if continues to drain at that rate (or if slows down out).  When it drains further, I suggest swapping batteries with another camera, and see if the problem moves with the battery (or not).

Also, you might see if the amount of streaming has increased (e.g., more seconds of recording per day).  If there are activity zones, you'd need to remove them to estimate that.

Are you seeing any signs of dropped connections?

FWIW, firmware bugs certainly can increase power drain, but I am thinking you need to rule out other causes first.  I'm not seeing posts from other users reporting this problem, and I'd think  there'd be a flood of them if this was due to firmware.
