Charging Dead Battery

My battery died.  I cannot get it to charge.  I am using the same charger I have always used.  While plugged in, the blue light on front blinks.

Help.

Had the battery gone flat or the camera died?
If the first then try unplugging and replug in the charger a few times to reprime it to start charging.
