rubber cover for USB port on the back of my Pro 2 came out

The rubber cover for the USB port on the back of my Pro 2 came out of the slot.  How can you insert the end piece back into the slot?  Any ideas?  The piece wants to stick out when I cover the USB port.

IIRC, I was able to replace the cap by using a small instrument to push the retaining strap back into place. Takes time and effort with small tools.
