I'm thinking on purchasing the system. Is it easy to turn on/off motion sensor when I'm home?

Yes, controlling your cameras is done via modes. There is a default mode called Disarmed. When you select that manually in the iPhone or Android app, all cameras are turned off instantly.
You may want to read a posting of mine that explains a bit more in detail how modes, rules and the schedule are set up.

There's no widget tyo do so but with either the app or browser, log in, click the Mode tab, select your system and hit Armedb or Disarmed. So, 3 clicks.

There have been lots of requests for Arlo to support IFTTT API. If Netgear did in the future, you can use IFTTT and setup rule like:
If any of my family members are home, trigger Arlo rule XXX.
