How can I stop the notifications and leave the motion sensor on?

You can turn them off on a per camera basis.
log in > MODE > ARLO BASE > click on edit pencil of mode you want to edit > pick EDIT camera > down page , uncheck the notifiy > SAVE
repeat for each camera
* best if you use a custom mode over editing the default ARMED mode
