I am not receiving notifications even though I have entered my email and have the box checked for push notifications.  Also it does not appear to be recording even though I have it set to record.

You won't get an email if there's no recording. Test your cameras by using live view and then the red button record icon. That should place a video in the library and send you an email. Also, check the running men in the cameras tab - if they're not black, they're not set to record.
