Why isn't the server and library self-contained within the base unit.

Many products provide core cabilities within a base unit, with mobile or expanded options out in the cloud. Your decision to move all capabilities into the cloud and only in the cloud, for such a wonderful product, is of great concern to me.

I have used cloud services in more than a half dozen areas - from banking, credit cards, utility and other services. Many have had wonderful products and services, but when they have been hacked, they have resulted in major nightmares. And the companies no not notify you that they have been hacked. Usually a smart cutomer discovers and exposes the incidents. I have had to deal with more than 6 identity theft situations that originated through cloud services. For all the gurus out there, don't tell me it can't happen - it did!!!! So i'm not interested in discussing that with anyone.

So when I went in search of a security system, I did not want it to be 100% operationally within the cloud. Move the core server capabilities to the base unit. Let my USB storage be my primary repository, and give me extended storage in the cloud if I want it. Stop trying to force me into a company strategy and give me capabilities that work for me - the customer. Take a tip from the electronic and computer industries. Put the core servers within the base unit, and allow customers to use the internet for firmware updates, support and extended services.

Let me be clear. I took the time to write my comments, because for the most part the Arlo Pro product seems to be an awesome wireless security system. Whether your system has been hacked or not isn't the point. I have dealt with the woes of  hacked cloud services and don't care for my security solution to be out in the cloud.

The Arlo Pro system for me would be much more valuable if the function were contained within the base unit, like many electronic and computer products. Even with the push to greater integration, the core functions are still within the base units... To the engineers, those functions are there for a reason - It has an operational value!!!
