Motion is detected and the recording starts for the set amount of time specified by the user. Once the recording stops, after the specified length of recording, it takes up to 15 seconds before the camera will begin a new recording. This is no good!!! I had a car deliver something to my front porch the other day and it recorded for the 20 seconds I have my camera to record. The driver got out of their car after the recording stopped, put the package on the porch, and was in their car before the recording began again. Needless to say, I never got the person on the recording. I know that everyone is going to say to lengthen the record time but doesn't that drain the batter? And doesn't Arlo pride itself on the longevity of their battery life? Recording lag time between videos need to be fixed.

The server-based design means the lag is inherent and probably can't be improved much. Using a longer recording time does use more battery but it also depends on how often you record. I'd rather get longer videos that captures what I need than to have to deal with breaks in the action. It won't use THAT much more battery unless you have tons of such recordings.

Agree with lengthening the recording time. I think finishing recording and resetting and restarting recording would probably use a bit more battery than if it recorded the whole time. Plus, battery life would come a distant second to capturing the footage that you need

muledalton,
After the camera detects motion and finishes and recording, the content is uploaded to the Arlo cloud. During this time there may be a slight delay before the next recording begins. In the scenario above, it is advised to increase recording length. This will increase battery usage but will allow more content to be captured per recording.
