I have been using Arlo Q in my store for some 3 weeks and love the system. However, it could do with refinement.

I would like to be able to allow the system to be armed during store hours, but without sending me e-mails whenever sound or motion is detected, and when we are closed to then receive emails. The schedule mode doesn't allow for this distinction (unless someone knows otherwise). At present I use a custom mode for opening hours and then change to the schedule mode after closing. BUT this requires me or someone else to remember to change modes. It would be great if the system could be upgraded to offer a seamless operation that requires no daily attention.

Another refinement would cover the light sensitivity of the camera. During the night I receive endless emails because car headlights reflect light into the store which triggers the motion sensor. And the amount of light hitting the zones created ( some 30 feet away from the window) is minimal. I will continue to move the cameras to less sensitive positions and adjust the zones accordingly. Hopefully then my sleep patterns will return to normal.

Otherwise, I can only say the Arlo Q is a genius piece of engineering.

The first issue is addressed by simply using your two mode (let's call them Day and Night). Since you already have appropriate modes and rules and are using the Night mode after closing, just schedule the Day mode for store hours, filling the schedule. The schedule is not a mode although it's positioning implies that it is. You populate the schedule with modes. Make sense?

The second is harder. Best positioning is done by trial and error as you already are attempting to do. Alternatively, search for "PVC" using the Search for Answers above. There's a clever and pretty Siple shade that can be made that may help you out. If it's caused by the lights bouncing around the room, that's tougher since you would need to exclude any area where the light hits. This could be a scenario where you can set up a mode with rules where one camera triggers another so a camera not affected by the lights still covers what you need and can record on it's own as well as to cause another camera to trigger a recording.

Good luck!
