I purchased two cameras two days ago and have really enjoyed them so far. We've had several break ins locally and I want to protect our vehicles. I'm having issues with the motion detection though...
I've noticed it'll pick up the trash truck going by, but my wife came home and parked in her normal spot and it didn't pick anything up until she was already inside the residence. It didn't get anything until my son went back out to the car to get something. I've mounted it so it picks up motion side to side and I would think a car is big enough to detect. I've included two pics below... the first one is of my son going back out to the car after my wife had already parked. The second one shows where the placement of my camera is. My sensitivity is at 86% at this point. Any help would be appreciated!

Well sadly I will be returning my system tonight. I've given it 3 days 2 mounts, 3 placement options ( even inverted) The motion sensing mechanism is too primitive to function correctly. Corner mounted 7 feet off the gound and pointed so that it only shows the driveway and front lawn. Still picks up passing cars. Every last one of them. The kicker is it can't detect my 6,000 lbs crew cab truck but it started working once I stepped out of the car!?!? The same with my wifes suv. But it will pick up passing cars all day long and fill up my phone with usless notifications. I have tired all of the toubleshooting steps and this product while groundbreaking and so freaking easy to use is just not suited for outdoor/motion use. Especially driveway use. The side to side detection with almost zero ability to detect head-on or off center movement makes this a very expensive novelty item. I was going to try the suggestion of turning the camera sideways to circumvent this flaw but honestly $400 bucks is too much money to spend on a beta product. I'll be returning this unit and take the 15% restock hit but it's a lesson learned. I'll keep an eye out Netgear for the next generation which I'm 100% positive will result in a different motion sensor and algorithm. But for now save your money and get some POE IP cameras.

It’s important to understand that due to the battery-powered design of the cameras and their requirement to conserve power when not in use, there may be some small amount of delay while the cameras wake up from energy-saving mode.
Camera position can be a factor in motion detection performance. It can sometimes take some trial and error to find optimal conditions for your Arlo system.
Take a look at the tips in this article to be sure your cameras are positioned for best performance: How do I optimize my Arlo Wire-Free camera’s motion detection performance?
