If I remember correctly at one time you could enable geofencing via WiFi only if desired. At the time I was using a Google tablet with GPS capability. The Amazon Fire HD8 does not have GPS capabilities and the Geofencing mode does not appear in the Arlo app for Amazon tablets. Is the reason I do not have the Geofencing mode on our Fire HD8 because of the lack of GPS capabilities, Netgear has not updated their Amazon app to include the Geofencing mode, or both or some other reason?

JamesC, thanks for your reply. The Fire HD 8 does not have GPS capability but does has location services. I had location services turned on for the Arlo app but not for Kindle Fire so I turned it on, waited and opened up the Arlo app but did not see Geofencing as a Mode. Next I powered down the Fire HD 8 and then powered it back up. I cleared out the Arlo app data to force new login information. There is still no Gefencing mode available. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the app?

I just looked at the Arlo app on my phone and on my PC. Geofencing was enabled on my phone and greyed out on my PC as expected. The Arlo app on my Fire HD 8 does even show the Geofencing Mode greyed out. Perhaps Netgear has not updated the Arlo Amazon app to include the Geofencing mode.

I'm not sure Arrlo supplies Amazon with the app - I think that's totally an Amazon thing. Check the app version numbers on your phone and tablet - I suspect they're different.
